STOP THE BLEED® is a nationally recognized training program developed by the American College of Surgeons to empower everyday people to save lives during severe bleeding emergencies. This course is designed for workplaces, schools, churches, community groups, warehouses, transportation teams, and anyone who wants to be prepared to act when seconds matter.
Uncontrolled bleeding is one of the leading causes of preventable death after injury. STOP THE BLEED® training teaches participants how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take immediate action until professional medical help arrives.
Participants will learn:
How to identify life-threatening bleeding
- How to safely use direct pressure
- Proper application of tourniquets
- Wound packing techniques
- Scene awareness and personal safety
Training is hands-on, practical, and straightforward, focusing on skills that can be used in real-world situations such as workplace accidents, vehicle incidents, industrial injuries, or public emergencies. No prior medical training is required.
This course complements First Aid, CPR, and AED training by addressing one of the most critical and time-sensitive emergencies a responder may face. While CPR focuses on the heart and breathing, STOP THE BLEED® focuses on preventing blood loss, often the difference between life and death in the first few minutes after an injury.
STOP THE BLEED® training is not about replacing emergency responders, it’s about empowering ordinary people to take extraordinary action when help is on the way but not yet there.
Because when severe bleeding happens, the nearest help is the people already on scene.
Each student that enrolls for any class involving CPR must be physically capable of bending their legs and have full range of motion of their arms. Participants should expect to be on their knees for an extended period of time throughout the course instruction. Performing CPR requires strength and good physical health as it could be physically challenging for some students. Wear comfortable stretchy clothing.
