The American Heart Association Friends & Family CPR/AED class is designed to give everyday people the confidence and basic skills needed to respond during a sudden cardiac emergency. This course is ideal for parents, grandparents, caregivers, babysitters, coaches, teachers, and anyone who wants to be prepared to help a loved one or member of the public in a critical moment.
Participants will learn how to recognize the signs of cardiac arrest, how to perform hands-only CPR for adults, (children, and infants optional), and how to safely and confidently use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The class also covers choking response techniques, helping students understand what to do when seconds truly matter.
This is a non-certification course, making it perfect for those who want practical, life-saving knowledge without the requirements of a formal workplace credential. Instruction is hands-on, interactive, and taught in a supportive environment that encourages questions and real-world discussion.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere — at home, at the grocery store, at a sporting event, or in the community. The Friends & Family CPR/AED class empowers individuals to act instead of freeze, giving them the confidence to step in and help until advanced medical care arrives.
Each student that enrolls for any class involving CPR must be physically capable of bending their legs and have full range of motion of their arms. Participants should expect to be on their knees for an extended period of time throughout the course instruction. Performing CPR requires strength and good physical health as it could be physically challenging for some students. Wear comfortable stretchy clothing.
